All Elite Electronics' USB Components meet or exceed the performance requirements of the USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) USB Revision 2.0 Specification and the specified mechanical, electrical and environmental performance criterion of ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 for electronic connectors and assemblies; and, are RoHS Compliant.  All Elite USB Connectors and Cable Assemblies are designed for use in 480 Mbps USB device applications.  When ordering please ensure that you are ordering the correct interface configuration for your application.  Elite Electronics specifies only the highest quality raw materials for use in its USB Connectors and Cable Assemblies.  Elite Electronics requires its fabricating sources to provide a written ISO Certificate of Compliance (C of C) inclusive of the product's ISO Manufacturing Date Code, RoHS - 2002/95/EC (Directive on the Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical & Electronic Equipment) and WEEE - 2002/96/EC (Directive on Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) with each production shipment.  

Performance Characteristics.  Elite Electronics' USB connectors will meet or exceed the performance characteristics as specified in Chapter 6 of the most current version of the USB 2.0 Specification.  Minimum electrical and environmental performance capabilities shall be as follows:

Insulation Resistance

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 21:  Test units must meet or exceed a minimum of 1,000 MW.

Dielectric Withstanding Voltage

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 20:  The dielectric must withstand 500 VAC for minute at sea level. 

Low Level Contact Resistance

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 23:  30 mW maximum when measured at 20 mV maximum open circuit at 100 mA;  Mated test contacts must be in a connector housing. 

Contact Current Rating

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 70:  1.5 A at 250 VAC minimum when measured at +25 oC; With power applied to the contacts, DT shall not exceed +30 oC at any point in the USB connector under test.  

Contact Capacitance

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 30:  2 pF maximum per unmated contact.

Insertion Force

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 13:  35 Newtons maximum at a maximum rate of 12.5 mm (0.492”) per minute.

Extraction Force

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 13:  10 Newtons minimum at a maximum rate of 12.5 mm (0.492”) per minute.

Durability

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 09:  1500 'insertion/extraction' cycles at a maximum rate of 200 cycles per hour. 

Accelerated Life Testing

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 17:  250 Hours at + 85 oC with a 10 VPP 16 MHz square wave applied to mated contacts. (Note: Mated contacts must be contained in an Elite connector body.) 

Humidity Life Testing

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 31:  168 Hours, seven (7) complete cycles.

Random Vibration

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 28:  No discontinuities of ms or longer duration when mated USB connectors are subjected to 5.35 Gs RMS. 15 minutes in each of three mutually perpendicular planes.

Physical Shock

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 27:  No discontinuities of 1 ms or longer duration when mated USB connectors are subjected to 11 ms duration 30Gs half-sine shock pulses.  Three shocks in each direction applied along three mutually perpendicular planes for 18 shocks.

Thermal Shock

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 62:  10 Cycles - -25 oC and +85 oC. The USB connectors under test must be mated.

Solderability

ANSI/TIA/EIA 364 - 52: USB connector contact solder tails shall pass 95% coverage after one-hour steam aging as specified in Category 2. 

Flammability

 

UL 94-V0: Upon request USB connector manufacturers are required to provide a C of C that shows the insulator material’s UL listing number and/or test data that shows the insulator material meets or exceeds the UL 94 V-0 Flame Impingement Test Criteria.
